Other Features
Clack Creek – A beautiful creek runs and gurgles through the Rolling Earth property and brings a sense of beauty and serenity to the surroundings.
Frogs, salamanders and small dolly varden trout have been spotted here! Rolling Earth Farm and Retreat is a special place to enjoy quiet time strolling in the forest or the friendly, warm company of your group around the campfire.
Cob Studio – This demonstration environmental building has almost no impact. About 80% of the materials used were found, re-used or re-directed from the landfill, beaches, roadsides, and development sites.
Materials for our Cob Studio included coloured bottles, clay, wood, woodstove, cedar roof shakes, fine sand, mason jars, and well-kept tools of another era gathered from old-timers at Coast garage sales.
Over 60 people and their children came to be a part of the cob-raising, facilitated and run in partnership between the Rolling Earth land partners (Brett & Joah, Amanda-Rae & Chris) and the Mudgirls Natural Building Collective. You can find them at www.mudgirls.ca for more information on low impact building.
Currently we are working on finishing the cob studio and enjoying it intermittently for personal use. By request, we would love to show the building to your group or you can book a workshop with us to learn about cob and get your hands and feet dirty!
